Privacy Policy

Jet Handy is a plane spotting tracker made by Typo Fire LLC. It keeps a record of the aircraft you've seen and the ones you've flown on. This page explains exactly what that involves, in plain terms.
The short version. We store your account and the spotting records you create, because the app is useless without them. Your photos never leave your phone. We don't run ads, we don't use analytics, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't sell anything to anyone.
What we collect

About location
When you open the Overhead tab, the app asks iOS for your position and sends those coordinates to adsb.lol, a community ADS-B service, which returns the aircraft currently flying near that point. That request carries no name, username, account identifier or anything else that ties it to you, and Jet Handy never stores your location — not on our servers, not in your account, not in your backups. If you deny the location permission, every other part of the app still works; only the Overhead tab goes quiet.
About your photos
Photos you attach to a sky log entry are written to storage on your iPhone and stay there. They are never uploaded, never reach our servers, and are not included in the backup file the app exports. They don't sync to the website or to any other device. If you delete the app, they go with it.
Who else sees anything
Jet Handy has no advertising networks, no analytics tools, and no third-party SDKs embedded in it at all. A small number of services are involved in running it:
- Cloudflare hosts the service and stores your account and spotting records.
- adsb.lol receives the coordinates described above to answer "what's flying near this point", and nothing else.
- adsbdb.com receives a tail number or flight callsign when you look one up, so the app can fill in the aircraft type and airline. It isn't told who is asking.
- Plunk sends the email that verifies your address.
Airline logos and aircraft photographs shown in the app are loaded from public image services, which — as with any image on the internet — see the request for the picture.
What we never do
- Sell, rent, or trade your information. Ever, to anyone.
- Show you advertisements, or share anything with advertisers.
- Track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- Run analytics or behavioural profiling on how you use the app.
- Store your location.
- Upload your photos.
Your choices
- Take your data with you. Settings → Export Backup writes a JSON file containing your spots, type marks, log entries and flown tails. It's yours; nothing is locked in.
- Erase your data. Settings → Erase All Data permanently deletes every spot, type mark, log entry, flown tail and saved photo, on our servers and on your phone. It cannot be undone.
- Turn off location. iOS Settings → Jet Handy → Location.
- Delete your account. Settings → Delete Account removes the account itself and everything in it — your sign-in, your records and your photos — from your phone and from our servers. It asks for your password first, and it cannot be undone. You can also write to us at the address below and we'll do it for you.
Keeping it safe
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form. No system is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend otherwise — but we keep as little as we can, which is the most effective protection there is.
Children
Jet Handy isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or what we do with it, we'll update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell you in the app.
